पूजयित्वा ऽङ्गदं सर्वे वानरा वानरर्षभम् ।
जग्मुर्मधुवनं यत्र नदीवेगा इव द्रुतम् ।

॥५-६२-५॥
pūjayitvā 'ṅgadaṃ sarve vānarā vānararṣabham । jagmurmadhuvanaṃ yatra nadīvegā iva drutam । । ॥5-62-5॥
Translation
Having honored Angada, the bull among monkeys, all the Vanaras rushed towards the place where the Madhuvana was, moving swiftly like the current of a river.

उन सभी वानरों ने वानरश्रेष्ठ अंगद का सम्मान करके, जिस ओर मधुवन था, उस ओर उसी प्रकार तीव्र गति से प्रस्थान किया, जैसे नदी का वेग (प्रवाह) बढ़ता है।
English Commentary
Valmiki uses a vivid simile here, comparing the movement of the Vanaras to the "rushing current of a river" (nadīvegā iva). Just as a river surges forward when a dam breaks, the monkeys, released from the tension of their mission and granted permission by Angada, surged toward the honey forest. This imagery conveys not just speed, but an uncontrollable, collective force of nature. It emphasizes that their discipline has momentarily dissolved into pure, instinctual joy and eagerness to feast after their long hardships.

यहाँ महर्षि वाल्मीकि ने वानरों की गति और उत्सुकता का वर्णन करने के लिए "नदी के वेग" (नदीवेगा इव) की उपमा दी है। जिस प्रकार नदी का प्रवाह किसी अवरोध के हटने पर तेजी से आगे बढ़ता है, वैसे ही वानर, अंगद की अनुमति मिलते ही मधुवन की ओर दौड़ पड़े। यह उपमा उनकी अनियंत्रित खुशी और सामूहिक गति को दर्शाती है। वे अनुशासित सैनिकों की तरह कतार में नहीं, बल्कि उत्साह के अतिरेक में एक बाढ़ की तरह उमड़ पड़े, जो उनकी विजय की खुशी को प्रमाणित करता है।
