Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
इमे हि संरब्धतरास्तथा तैः संप्रधर्षिताः ।
वारयन्तो वनातस्मात् क्रुद्वैर्वाणरपुङ्गवैः ।
।
॥५-६३-७॥
Ime hi saṃrabdhatarāstathā taiḥ saṃpradharṣitāḥ । Vārayanto vanātasmāt kruddhairvānarapuṅgavaiḥ । । ॥5-63-7॥
Translation
"Indeed, when these guards tried to prevent them from the forest, they were assaulted even more violently by those angry, excellent Vanaras."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"ये रक्षक जब उन्हें उस वन से रोकने (हटाने) का प्रयत्न करते थे, तब उन क्रोधित वानर-श्रेष्ठों ने इन पर और अधिक आवेश में आकर हमला किया।"
English Commentary
The conflict described here is physical and intense. The phrase 'Samrabdhatarah' indicates that the guards' attempt to enforce the law only provoked the trespassers further. The intruders are described as 'Vanarapungavaih' (excellent Vanaras/bulls among monkeys), acknowledging their strength and status even while complaining about them. Dadhimukha emphasizes that his guards were simply doing their duty ('varayanto' - preventing/protecting) when they were overpowered by the rage of the returnees.
हिंदी टीका
संघर्ष का स्तर बढ़ गया है। 'संरब्धतराः' का अर्थ है अत्यधिक उत्तेजित या आवेश में। जब रक्षकों ने अपना कर्तव्य निभाने की कोशिश की, तो अंगद के दल (वानरपुङ्गवैः - श्रेष्ठ वानरों) ने क्रोधित होकर उन्हें बुरी तरह पीटा। यहाँ विडंबना यह है कि जो वानर सुग्रीव के सबसे अच्छे सैनिक (Search party) हैं, वे ही सुग्रीव के रक्षकों को पीट रहे हैं। यह 'गृह-युद्ध' जैसी स्थिति दधिमुख के लिए असहनीय हो गई थी।
