Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
नाज्ञापयितुमीशो ऽहं युवराजो ऽस्मि यद्यपि ।
अयुक्तं कृतकर्माणो यूयं धर्षयितुं मया।
॥५-६४-१५॥
Nājñāpayitumīśo 'haṃ yuvarājo 'smi yadyapi |
Ayuktaṃ kṛtakarmāṇo yūyaṃ dharṣayituṃ mayā ॥5-64-15॥
Translation
Even though I am the Crown Prince, I am not the master to command you. It is improper for me to force or boss around you who have accomplished the task.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यद्यपि मैं युवराज हूँ, फिर भी मैं (आपको) आज्ञा देने का स्वामी नहीं हूँ। आप लोगों ने (इतना महान) कार्य किया है, इसलिए मेरे द्वारा आप पर रोब जमाना (या जबरदस्ती करना) उचित नहीं है।
English Commentary
Angada explicitly delineates the difference between positional authority and earned respect. He states that while he holds the title of Yuvaraja, it is morally wrong to issue commands to those who have kṛtakarmāṇo (accomplished the deed). He recognizes that their achievement elevates them above the status of mere subordinates. He refuses to "flex" his authority on heroes. This humility and recognition of merit endear him to the troops and solidify their loyalty to him far more effectively than any direct order could.
हिंदी टीका
अंगद यहाँ नेतृत्व के उच्चतम आदर्श को प्रस्तुत कर रहे हैं। वे कहते हैं कि "कृतकर्माणो" (जिन्होंने कार्य सिद्ध कर दिया है), ऐसे वीरों पर शासन करना या उन्हें कठोर आज्ञा देना अनुचित है। सफलता प्राप्त करने वाले योद्धा सम्मान के पात्र होते हैं, आदेश के नहीं। अंगद समझते हैं कि पद (Position) से बड़ा प्रदर्शन (Performance) होता है। हनुमान और अन्य वानरों ने जो किया है, उसके सामने युवराज का पद छोटा है। यह विनय अंगद को वानरों का प्रिय नेता बनाती है।
