समाश्वसिहि भद्र ते दृष्टा देवी न संशयः ।
नागन्तुमिह शक्यं तैरतीते समये हि नः ।
।
॥५-६४-२५॥
Samāśvasihi bhadra te dṛṣṭā devī na saṃśayaḥ |
Nāgantumiha śakyaṃ tairatīte samaye hi naḥ ॥5-64-25॥
Translation
"Be comforted, may prosperity attend you! The divine lady (Sita) has been seen; there is no doubt. For they would not have been able to come here if the time allotted by us had passed (without success)."

"आप आश्वस्त हो जाइये, आपका कल्याण हो! देवी सीता का पता लगा लिया गया है, इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है। क्योंकि निर्धारित समय बीत जाने पर वे (असफल होकर) यहाँ आने में समर्थ नहीं हो सकते थे।"
English Commentary
Sugriva's remark here displays his political and psychological acumen. He had given the Vanaras a one-month deadline, which has passed. Sugriva reasons that if they had failed, fear of punishment would have prevented them from returning (they would have likely starved themselves to death). The very fact of their return after the deadline is the greatest proof of their success. This verse highlights Sugriva's confidence and his supportive role as Rama's ally.

सुग्रीव की यह टिप्पणी उनकी राजनीतिक और मनोवैज्ञानिक सूझबूझ का परिचय देती है। उन्होंने वानरों को एक महीने की समय सीमा दी थी, जो बीत चुकी है। सुग्रीव का तर्क है कि यदि वे असफल होते, तो दंड के भय से वे कभी वापस नहीं लौटते (प्रायोपवेश कर लेते)। उनका लौटकर आना ही उनकी सफलता का सबसे बड़ा प्रमाण है। यह श्लोक सुग्रीव के राम के प्रति सखा-भाव और आत्मविश्वास को दर्शाता है।
