हनुमांश्च महाबाहुः प्रणम्य शिरसा ततः ।
नियतामक्षतां देवीं राघवाय न्यवेदयत् ।
।
॥५-६४-३७॥
Hanumāṃścā mahābāhuḥ praṇamya śirasā tataḥ |
Niyatāmakṣatāṃ devīṃ rāghavāya nyavedayat ॥5-64-37॥
Translation
Then, the mighty-armed Hanuman bowed his head and reported to Raghava that the Divine Lady is constant (faithful) and unharmed (chaste).

तदनन्तर, महाबाहु हनुमान ने (राम को) सिर झुकाकर प्रणाम किया और राघव को निवेदन किया कि देवी (सीता) 'नियत' (पतिव्रता/धर्म में स्थित) हैं और 'अक्षत' (सुरक्षित/पवित्र) हैं।
English Commentary
This is one of the most critical verses in Sundara Kanda. Hanuman chooses his words with extreme precision. He knows Rama's anxiety concerns not just Sita's life but also her sanctity (being in Ravana's custody). Therefore, he uses the words 'Niyatam' (disciplined/loyal) and 'Akshatam' (unharmed/chaste). This concise report addresses Rama's deepest fears regarding her physical safety and moral purity simultaneously.

यह सुंदरकाण्ड के सबसे महत्वपूर्ण श्लोकों में से एक है। हनुमान जी बहुत नपे-तुले शब्दों का प्रयोग करते हैं। वे जानते हैं कि राम के मन में सीता के जीवन के साथ-साथ उनके चरित्र को लेकर भी चिंता हो सकती है (रावण के अधीन होने के कारण)। इसलिए, वे 'नियताम्' (जो अपने नियमों/धर्म में स्थित है) और 'अक्षताम्' (जिसे कोई आंच नहीं आई है) शब्दों का प्रयोग करते हैं। यह राम को पूर्ण सांत्वना देने वाला संदेश है।
