Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सौम्य रोषो न कर्तव्यो यदेभिरभिवारितः ।
अज्ञानाद्रक्षिभिः क्रोधाद्भवन्तः प्रतिषेधिताः ।
।
॥५-६४-६॥
Saumya roṣo na kartavyo yadbhirabhivāritaḥ । Ajñānādrakṣibhiḥ krodhādbhavantaḥ pratiṣedhitāḥ । । ॥5-64-6॥
Translation
"O Gentle One! You should not be angry that you were obstructed by these (guards). Out of ignorance and anger, you were prohibited by the guards."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे सौम्य (अंगद)! आपको क्रोध नहीं करना चाहिए कि इन रक्षकों ने आपको रोका। अज्ञानता के कारण और (अपने कर्तव्य के) आवेश में इन रक्षकों ने आप लोगों को मना किया था।"
English Commentary
Dadhimukha offers a diplomatic apology. He addresses Angada as "Saumya" (Gentle/Good-natured) to diffuse any lingering aggression. He attributes the guards' previous resistance to "Ajnanat" (ignorance)—implying that had they known of the mission's success, they never would have interfered. He pleads for Angada not to hold a grudge ("Rosho na kartavyo"), paving the way for the delivery of the royal message.
