Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अयं चास्मै प्रदातव्यो यत्नात् सुपरिरक्षितः ।
ब्रुवता वचनान्येवं सुग्रीवस्योपशृण्वतः ।
।
॥५-६५-२१॥
ayaṃ cāsmai pradātavyo yatnāt suparirakṣitaḥ |
bruvatā vacanānyevaṃ sugrīvasyopaśṛṇvataḥ ॥5-65-21॥
Translation
(Sita said) "While repeating these words in the presence of Sugriva, you must give him this (jewel), which has been guarded with great care."
हिंदी अनुवाद
(सीता ने कहा) "सुग्रीव के सुनते हुए (उनकी उपस्थिति में), ये वचन कहते हुए, यत्नपूर्वक सुरक्षित रखा गया यह (चूड़ामणि) उन्हें (राम को) दे देना।"
English Commentary
This verse displays Sita's astute understanding of alliance politics. She instructs Hanuman to hand over the token specifically sugrīvasyopaśṛṇvataḥ—while Sugriva is listening/watching. She knows that Sugriva controls the army required for her rescue. By having the emotional handover occur in his presence, she ensures he witnesses Rama's pain and the reality of her existence, thereby emotionally binding the King of Vanaras to his promise. The phrase yatnāt suparirakṣitaḥ (guarded with effort) highlights that she preserved this jewel through all her trials, likely hiding it from the Rakshasis, specifically for this moment of reconnection.

सीता जी की राजनीतिक समझ यहाँ स्पष्ट होती है। वे निर्देश देती हैं कि चूड़ामणि राम को तब दी जाए जब 'सुग्रीव सुन रहे हों'। ऐसा क्यों? क्योंकि सुग्रीव इस अभियान के मुख्य सहयोगी हैं। जब वे सीता की निशानी और संदेश देखेंगे, तो उन्हें भी अपनी प्रतिज्ञा और उत्तरदायित्व का बोध होगा। 'यत्नात् सुपरिरक्षितः' (यत्न से सुरक्षित रखा गया) बताता है कि वह आभूषण सीता के लिए केवल गहना नहीं, बल्कि राम की स्मृति थी, जिसे उन्होंने प्राणों से बढ़कर संभाला था। यह श्लोक सीता की दूरदर्शिता को सिद्ध करता है कि वे व्यक्तिगत भावना और राजकाज दोनों को साथ लेकर चल रही हैं।
