क्व सीता वर्तते देवी कथं च मयि वर्तते ।
एतन्मे सर्वमाख्यात वैदेहीं प्रति वानराः ।

etanme sarvamākhyāta vaidehīṃ prati vānarāḥ ॥5-65-5॥
Translation
Where is the noble Sita? How is she disposed towards me? O Vanaras, tell me everything regarding Vaidehi.

देवी सीता कहाँ हैं? और मेरे प्रति उनके भाव कैसे हैं? हे वानरों! वैदेही के विषय में यह सब मुझे विस्तार से बताओ।
English Commentary
Rama poses two critical questions here, balancing his role as a warrior and a husband. First, "Where is she?" relates to the logistics required for her rescue. Second, and more poignantly, "How is she disposed towards me?" reveals his deep emotional vulnerability. He seeks assurance that her spirit hasn't broken and that her love for him remains her sustaining force despite the trauma of abduction. By addressing the group ("O Vanaras") rather than just Hanuman, Rama displays graciousness, acknowledging the collective effort of the search party, even though he knows the specific intelligence rests with Hanuman. It highlights that for Rama, the emotional bond with Sita is as vital as the physical strategy of rescue.
