श्रुत्वा तु वचनं तेषां हनुमान् मारुतात्मजः ।
प्रणम्य शिरसा देव्यै सीतायै तां दिशं प्रति ।
उवाच वाक्यं वाक्यज्ञः सीताया दर्शनं यथा ।

śrutvā tu vacanaṃ teṣāṃ hanumān mārutātmajaḥ |
praṇamya śirasā devyai sītāyai tāṃ diśaṃ prati |
uvāca vākyaṃ vākyajñaḥ sītāyā darśanaṃ yathā ॥5-65-7॥
Translation
Hearing their words, Hanuman, the son of the wind, bowed his head toward that direction (South) to Goddess Sita. Then, he, the knower of speech, spoke words describing the sight of Sita exactly as it happened.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उन (वानरों) के वचन सुनकर, पवनपुत्र हनुमान ने उस (दक्षिण) दिशा की ओर सिर झुकाकर देवी सीता को प्रणाम किया और फिर, वाणी के मर्मज्ञ (वाक्यज्ञ) हनुमान ने सीता के दर्शन का वृत्तांत वैसे कहना आरम्भ किया जैसा उन्होंने देखा था।
English Commentary
This is a profound moment demonstrating Hanuman's deep devotion and emotional intelligence. Before addressing Rama, he physically bows towards the South, acknowledging Sita's presence across the ocean. This gesture validates Sita not just as a victim to be rescued, but as a Goddess to be revered. The epithet vākyajñaḥ (connoisseur of speech) is crucial here. Hanuman is about to deliver heartbreaking news to a grieving husband; he needs the perfect balance of factual accuracy and empathetic delivery. By bowing to Sita first, he invokes her grace to articulate her suffering correctly. It shows that in Hanuman’s heart, the Mother (Sita) commands as much reverence as the Lord (Rama).

यह श्लोक हनुमान जी की भक्ति और शिष्टाचार का सर्वोच्च उदाहरण है। श्री राम के समक्ष बोलने से पूर्व, उन्होंने दक्षिण दिशा (जहाँ सीता हैं) की ओर सिर झुकाकर प्रणाम किया। यह दर्शाता है कि उनके लिए सीता का स्मरण और सम्मान सर्वोपरि है। उन्हें 'वाक्यज्ञ' (बोलने की कला में निपुण) कहा गया है। यह इसलिए महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि शोक-संतप्त राम को समाचार देते समय शब्दों का चयन बहुत सावधानी से करना था—सत्य भी कहना था और राम को अधिक दुःख से भी बचाना था। सीता को पहले प्रणाम करके उन्होंने मानों अपनी वाणी में पवित्रता और शक्ति का आह्वान किया, ताकि वे माता के कष्टों का वर्णन यथार्थ रूप से प्रभु के सामने कर सकें।
