Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अयं हि शोभते तस्याः प्रियाया मूर्ध्नि मे मणिः ।
अस्याद्य दर्शनेनाहं प्राप्तां तामिव चिन्तये ।
。 ॥५-६६-७॥
ayaṃ hi śobhate tasyāḥ priyāyā mūrdhni me maṇiḥ |
asyādya darśanenāhaṃ prāptāṃ tāmiva cintaye ॥5-66-7॥
Translation
Indeed, this jewel used to shine on the head of my beloved. By seeing it today, I consider her as if she herself has been obtained.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यह मणि मेरी उस प्रिया (सीता) के मस्तक पर शोभा पाता था। आज इसके दर्शन से मुझे ऐसा प्रतीत हो रहा है मानो मैंने उसे (सीता को) ही पा लिया है।
English Commentary
Rama expresses how the object has become synonymous with the person. Because the jewel always adorned Sita's head (mūrdhni), seeing it triggers a psychological response where his mind fills in the missing part of the picture—Sita herself. He states, prāptāṃ tāmiva cintaye (I think of her as if she is obtained). It creates a bittersweet hallucination. For a brief moment, the possession of the jewel grants him the phantom sensation of reunion, providing relief to his agony before reality sets back in.

इसे 'साहचर्य का नियम' (Law of Association) कहते हैं। चूँकि राम ने सदैव इस मणि को सीता के मस्तक पर ही देखा था, इसलिए अब इसे अलग देखने पर भी उनका मन भ्रमित हो रहा है कि सीता पास ही हैं। 'प्राप्तां तामिव' (मानो उसे पा लिया हो) - यह राम की विरह-जनित मानसिक स्थिति है। वे उस क्षणिक भ्रम में जीना चाहते हैं जहाँ मणि और सीता एक ही हैं। यह श्लोक प्रेम की उस तीव्रता को दिखाता है जहाँ प्रेमी प्रिय की वस्तु में ही प्रिय का अस्तित्व मान लेता है।
