किमाह सीता वैदेही ब्रूहि सौम्य पुनः पुनः ।
पिपासुमिव तोयेन सिञ्चन्ति वाक्यवारिणा ।

kimāha sītā vaidehī brūhi saumya punaḥ punaḥ |
pipāsumiva toyena siñcanti vākyavāriṇā ॥5-66-8॥
Translation
What did Vaidehi Sita say? Tell me, O gentle one, again and again. You are sprinkling me, a thirsty man, with the water of your words.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे सौम्य (हनुमान)! वैदेही सीता ने क्या कहा? मुझे बार-बार बताओ। तुम (अपने) वचन रूपी जल से मुझ प्यासे को सींच रहे हो।
English Commentary
Rama’s insatiable thirst for news of Sita is depicted here with a powerful metaphor. He asks Hanuman to repeat Sita's message punaḥ punaḥ (again and again). He compares himself to a thirsty man (pipāsum) and Hanuman’s report to water (vākyavāriṇā - water of words). This indicates that Sita’s words are not just information; they are life-sustaining sustenance. Without this "water," Rama feels he would perish. It shows his desperate emotional dependency on the connection Hanuman has established.

यह श्लोक राम की व्याकुलता का सजीव चित्रण है। एक बार सुनकर उनका मन नहीं भरा। वे हनुमान से बार-बार वही बात दोहराने को कहते हैं। यहाँ एक सुंदर रूपक (Metaphor) है—राम 'पिपासु' (प्यासे) हैं और हनुमान के शब्द 'वारि' (जल) हैं। जैसे रेगिस्तान में मरते हुए व्यक्ति को पानी की हर बूंद जीवन देती है, वैसे ही सीता के शब्द राम के प्राणों की रक्षा कर रहे हैं। 'सिञ्चन्ति' (सींचना) क्रिया बताती है कि राम का हृदय सूख चुका था, जो अब हनुमान की वाणी से पुनः हरा हो रहा है।
