ममैव दुष्कृतं किंचिन्महदस्ति न संशयः ।
समर्थो सहितौ यन्मां नावेक्षेते परन्तपौ ।

Mamaiva duṣkṛtaṃ kiñcinmahadasti na saṃśayaḥ । Samarthau sahitau yanmāṃ nāvekṣete parantapau । । 5.67.24।। ॥5-67-24॥
Translation
"Undoubtedly, it is some great sin of my own, because of which those two scorchers of foes, though capable and together, do not look after me."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"निस्संदेह मेरा ही कोई महान पाप (दुष्कृत) है, जिसके कारण वे दोनों शत्रुदमन समर्थ होकर भी मेरी सुध नहीं ले रहे हैं।"
English Commentary
This verse reflects the quintessential philosophical mindset of Karma. Failing to find a logical reason for Rama's absence given his power and love, Sita turns the blame inward. She concludes it must be her own Mahat Dushkritam (great past sin) causing this suffering. By blaming her destiny rather than her husband, she preserves her faith in Rama. It portrays her humility and the psychological defense mechanism of a devotee who refuses to see a flaw in their Lord, accepting suffering as personal penance.

यह भारतीय दर्शन और सीता के उच्च चरित्र का परिचायक श्लोक है। जब उन्हें राम और लक्ष्मण की शक्ति और प्रेम पर कोई दोष नहीं मिला, तो उन्होंने दोष अपने ऊपर ले लिया। वे इसे अपने 'दुष्कृत' (पाप/कर्म) का फल मानती हैं। यह आत्म-ग्लानि की पराकाष्ठा है। सीता सोचती हैं कि शायद उनके पिछले जन्मों के पाप आड़े आ रहे हैं, वरना यह संभव ही नहीं था कि राम जैसा पति अपनी पत्नी को विपत्ति में छोड़ दे। यह सोच उन्हें राम के प्रति श्रद्धा बनाए रखने में मदद करती है।
