त्वच्छोकविमुखो रामो देवि सत्येन ते शपे ।
रामे दुःखाभिभूते तु लक्ष्मणः परितप्यते ।

Tvaccokavimukho Rāmo devi satyena te śape । Rāme duḥkhābhibhūte tu Lakṣmaṇaḥ paritapyate । । 5.67.26।। ॥5-67-26॥
Translation
"O Devi! I swear to you by the truth that Rama has turned away from everything else due to his grief for you. And Lakshmana too is suffering greatly, seeing Rama overwhelmed by sorrow."

"हे देवि! मैं सत्य की शपथ लेता हूँ कि राम आपके शोक के कारण अन्य सभी कार्यों से विमुख हो गए हैं। और राम के दुःख से अभिभूत होने के कारण लक्ष्मण भी अत्यंत संताप कर रहे हैं।"
English Commentary
Hanuman swears a solemn oath (Satyena te shape) to validate Rama's condition. He clarifies that Rama acts indifferent to the world not out of neglect for Sita, but because he is consumed by grief for her (Tvacchoka-vimukho). This re-frames Rama's silence from "forgetfulness" to "paralyzing sorrow." Furthermore, Lakshmana’s suffering is explained as a reflection of Rama’s pain. This assurance is vital for Sita to know she is still cherished, restoring her self-worth and hope.

हनुमान जी यहाँ सबसे बड़ी शपथ ('सत्येन ते शपे') लेते हैं। वे सीता को विश्वास दिलाते हैं कि राम ने उन्हें भुलाया नहीं है, बल्कि वे तो 'त्वच्छोकविमुखो' (तुम्हारे शोक में डूबे होने के कारण संसार से विमुख) हैं। राम की निष्क्रियता का कारण उपेक्षा नहीं, बल्कि गहरा अवसाद है। और लक्ष्मण इसलिए दुखी हैं क्योंकि वे अपने भाई को टूटते हुए देख रहे हैं। यह जानकर सीता को तसल्ली मिलती है कि उनका प्रेम एकतरफा नहीं है; विरह की अग्नि दोनों तरफ बराबर जल रही है।
