नखाग्रैः केन ते भीरु दारितं तु स्तनान्तरम् ।
कः क्रीडति सरोषेण पञ्चवक्त्रेण भोगिना ।

Nakhāgraiḥ kena te bhīru dāritaṃ tu stanāntaram । Kaḥ krīḍati saroṣeṇa pañcavaktreṇa bhoginā । । 5.67.8 । । ॥5-67-8॥
Translation
"O timid one! By whom has your breast been lacerated with nail-tips? Who is playing with an angry five-headed serpent?"
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे भीरु! किसने अपने नखों के अग्रभाग से तुम्हारे वक्षस्थल को विदीर्ण (घायल) किया है? वह कौन है जो क्रद्ध हुए पांच मुख वाले सर्प (महानाग) के साथ खेल रहा है?"
English Commentary
Rama questions Sita, asking who dared to wound her with claws. He addresses her tenderly as Bhiru (timid/gentle one), contrasting her softness with his terrifying rage. He metaphorically asks, "Who is playing with a five-headed cobra?" By this, Rama equates provoking him to handling a deadly snake. It signifies that harming Sita is an act of suicidal foolishness. The "five-headed" imagery suggests inescapable destruction waiting for the perpetrator.

राम क्रोध में पूछते हैं कि किसने यह दुस्साहस किया। वे सीता को 'भीरु' (डरपोक/कोमल स्वभाव वाली) कहते हैं, क्योंकि वे जानते हैं कि सीता स्वभाव से कोमल हैं। राम अपनी तुलना 'पंचवक्त्रेण भोगिना' (पाँच फन वाले सांप) से करते हैं। इसका अर्थ है कि जिसने भी सीता को चोट पहुंचाई है, उसने साक्षात मृत्यु को निमंत्रण दिया है। यह राम के आत्मविश्वास और शत्रु के प्रति उनकी भयंकर चेतावनी को दर्शाता है। वे स्वयं को कालस्वरूप मानते हैं जब बात सीता की सुरक्षा की हो।
