गते हि त्वयि विक्रान्ते पुनरागमनाय वै ।
प्राणानामपि सन्देहो मम स्यान्नात्र संशयः ।

Gate hi tvayi vikrānte punarāgamanāya vai । Prāṇānāmapi sandeho mama syānnātra saṃśayaḥ । । ॥5-68-5॥
Translation
O Valiant One! Indeed, once you have departed to return (to Rama), there is no doubt that my very survival (life breath) will become uncertain.

हे पराक्रमी! तुम्हारे वापस लौटने के लिए चले जाने पर, मेरे प्राणों के रहने में भी संदेह हो जाएगा, इसमें कोई संशय नहीं है।
English Commentary
This verse captures the fragility of Sita's existence. While she knows Hanuman must leave to organize the rescue (punarāgamanāya - for the sake of coming back), the immediate vacuum his departure will create is terrifying. She frankly admits that once he is gone, her hold on life (prāṇānām) will become doubtful. The hope Hanuman brought revived her, but his absence threatens to plunge her back into a darkness deeper than before. She fears she might not survive the waiting period between Hanuman's departure and Rama's arrival. It underlines the urgency of the mission.

यहाँ सीता जी की निराशा पुनः हावी हो रही है। हनुमान का जाना आवश्यक है ताकि राम आ सकें, लेकिन हनुमान के जाने के बाद और राम के आने से पहले का जो 'अंतराल' (gap) है, वह सीता को डरा रहा है। वह कहती हैं 'प्राणानामपि सन्देहो'—मेरे प्राण बचेंगे या नहीं, यह निश्चित नहीं है। जब तक हनुमान हैं, एक आशा जीवंत है। उनके जाते ही पुनः वही राक्षसियां और वही अंधेरा होगा। यह श्लोक 'पुनरागमनाय' (लौटने के लिए जाना) के विरोधाभास को दर्शाता है—तुम्हारे जाने से ही मेरा भला है, फिर भी तुम्हारा जाना मेरे प्राण ले सकता है।
