स वेश्मजालं बलवान् ददर्श व्यासक्तवैदूर्यसुवर्णजालम् ।
यथा महत् प्रावृषि मेघजालं विद्युत्पिनद्धं सविहंगजालम् ॥ ॥५-७-१॥
Sa veśmajālaṃ balavān dadarśa vyāsaktavaidūryasuvarṇajālam |
Yathā mahat prāvṛṣi meghajālaṃ vidyutpinaddhaṃ savihaṅgajālam ॥5-7-1॥
Translation
The mighty one (Hanuman) saw a network of structures (apartments within the Vimana), inlaid with lapis lazuli and gold lattice. It resembled a massive cluster of clouds in the rainy season, streaked with lightning and filled with flocks of birds.

उस बलवान (हनुमान) ने वहां विमान-गृहों का समूह देखा, जो वैदूर्य मणियों और सोने की जालियों से जड़ा हुआ था। वह (विमान) वर्षाकाल के विशाल मेघ-समूह जैसा लग रहा था, जिसमें बिजली चमक रही हो और पक्षियों के झुंड उड़ रहे हों।
English Commentary
This marks the beginning of the description of the Pushpaka Vimana (Sarga 7). The Pushpaka was not merely a vehicle but a 'flying city,' containing 'veshmajalam' (a network of apartments), indicating its immense scale. Valmiki uses the metaphor of storm clouds: just as clouds are illuminated by lightning, the Vimana was illuminated by gold and lapis lazuli. The phrase 'savihangajalam' suggests it was adorned with bird motifs or was so high that flocks of birds hovered around it, enhancing the 'cloud' metaphor.

यहाँ से पुष्पक विमान का वर्णन (सर्ग 7) आरम्भ होता है। पुष्पक केवल एक वाहन नहीं, बल्कि एक 'उड़ता हुआ नगर' था। इसमें 'वेश्मजालं' (भवनों का समूह) था, जो इसकी विशालता को दर्शाता है। कवि ने इसकी तुलना वर्षा ऋतु के बादलों से की है—जिस प्रकार बादलों में बिजली चमकती है, वैसे ही विमान में सोना और मणियां चमक रही थीं। 'सविहंगजालम्' का अर्थ है कि उसमें या तो कृत्रिम पक्षी बने थे या वह इतना ऊँचा था कि असली पक्षी उसके आसपास उड़ रहे थे।
