Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
कृताश्च वैदूर्यमया विहङ्गा रूप्यप्रवालैश्च तथा विहङ्गाः ।
चित्राश्च नानावसुभिर्भुजङ्गा जात्यानुरूपास्तुरगाः शुभाङ्गाः ॥ ॥५-७-१२॥
Kṛtāśca vaidūryamayā vihaṅgā rūpyapravālaiśca tathā vihaṅgāḥ । Citrāśca nānāvasubhirbhujaṅgā jātyānurūpāsturagāḥ śubhāṅgāḥ ॥ ॥5-7-12॥
Translation
There were artificial birds made of lapis lazuli, silver, and coral. There were also amazing snakes made of various gems, and horses of noble breed with beautiful limbs (sculpted within the Vimana).
हिंदी अनुवाद
(उस विमान में) वैदूर्य मणि, चांदी और मूंगे (प्रवाल) से बने हुए कृत्रिम पक्षी थे। वहां विविध रत्नों से बने हुए विचित्र सांप (भुजंग) और उत्तम जाति के सुंदर अंगों वाले घोड़े भी निर्मित थे।
English Commentary
Valmiki describes the exquisite sculpture work within the Vimana. The birds, snakes, and horses mentioned are not alive but are gem-encrusted artifices. The combination of lapis lazuli (blue) and coral (red) creates a striking visual contrast. The term 'jatyanurupah' is significant; it implies the sculpted horses were so realistic that one could identify their noble breed and perfect anatomy. This suggests the Vimana housed a collection of masterpieces, functioning almost like a floating museum of gem-carving.

वाल्मीकि यहाँ विमान के भीतर की शिल्पकला (sculpture) का वर्णन कर रहे हैं। यहाँ वर्णित पक्षी, सांप और घोड़े सजीव नहीं, बल्कि रत्नों और धातुओं से निर्मित कलाकृतियां हैं। 'वैदूर्य' और 'प्रवाल' का संयोजन नीले और लाल रंगों का सुंदर कंट्रास्ट पैदा करता है। 'जात्यानुरूपाः' शब्द महत्वपूर्ण है, जिसका अर्थ है कि घोड़ों की मूर्तियां ऐसी बनाई गई थीं कि उनकी नस्ल (breed) और शारीरिक गठन बिल्कुल असली और उत्तम कोटि का प्रतीत होता था। यह रावण की कला-दीर्घा (art gallery) जैसा दृश्य प्रस्तुत करता है।
