Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रवालजाम्बूनदपुष्पपक्षाः सलीलमावर्जितजिह्मपक्षाः ।
कामस्य साक्षादिव भान्ति पक्षाः कृता विहङ्गाः सुमुखाः सुपक्षाः ॥ ॥५-७-१३॥
Pravālajāmbūnadapuṣpapakṣāḥ salīlamāvarjitajihmapakṣāḥ । Kāmasya sākṣādiva bhānti pakṣāḥ kṛtā vihaṅgāḥ sumukhāḥ supakṣāḥ ॥ ॥5-7-13॥
Translation
The wings (of those birds) were made of coral and gold flowers, and they were playfully curved and bent. With beautiful faces and wings, those artificial birds shone as if they were the very helpers of Kama (God of Love).
हिंदी अनुवाद
(उन कृत्रिम पक्षियों के) पंख मूंगे और सोने के फूलों से बने थे। वे पंख लीलापूर्वक टेढ़े होकर झुके हुए थे। सुंदर मुख और सुंदर पंखों वाले वे पक्षी ऐसे चमक रहे थे मानो साक्षात् कामदेव के सहायक हों।
English Commentary
This verse offers a detailed look at the avian sculptures. Their wings were not stiff but 'salilam' (playfully) and 'avarjita' (curved/bent), creating an illusion of movement and grace. Comparing them to the 'wings/helpers of Kama' suggests they exuded a romantic, sensual appeal. The use of gold and coral made them radiant. The imagery reinforces the idea that the Vimana was designed to stimulate the senses and evoke pleasure, fitting for Ravana's hedonistic nature.
