Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
इतीव तद्गृहम् अभिगम्य शोभनं सविस्मयो नगमि व चारुशोभनम् ।
पुनश्च तत् परमसुगन्धिसुन्दरं हिमात्यये नगमिव चारुकन्दरम् ॥ ॥५-७-१५॥
Itīva tadgṛham abhigamya śobhanaṃ savismayo nagami va cāruśobhanam । Punaśca tat paramasugandhisundaraṃ himātyaye nagamiva cārukandaram ॥ ॥5-7-15॥
Translation
Thus, approaching that beautiful mansion which was grand like a mountain, Hanuman was amazed. It was supremely fragrant and beautiful, resembling a mountain with lovely caves at the end of winter (spring).
हिंदी अनुवाद
इस प्रकार हनुमान जी उस सुंदर और पर्वत के समान भव्य भवन (विमान) के पास पहुंचकर विस्मित हो गए। वह विमान उत्तम सुगंध से युक्त और सुंदर था, जैसे वसंत ऋतु (हिम-अत्यय) में सुंदर गुफाओं वाला पर्वत महकता है।
English Commentary
Hanuman's reaction is 'savismayo' (filled with wonder). Despite all he had seen, the Pushpaka Vimana stood apart. Valmiki introduces an olfactory dimension here: the Vimana was 'parama-sugandhi' (supremely fragrant). The simile of a mountain at 'himatyaye' (the end of winter/spring) suggests a freshness and natural perfume arising from blooming flora. This implies the Vimana was constantly perfumed with incense, flowers, and sandal, appealing to the sense of smell as much as sight.

हनुमान जी की प्रतिक्रिया 'सविस्मयो' (आश्चर्यचकित) है। उन्होंने अनेक अद्भुत वस्तुएं देखी थीं, लेकिन पुष्पक विमान का सौंदर्य अद्वितीय था। यहाँ घ्राण-बिंब (olfactory image) का प्रयोग है—विमान केवल दिखने में सुंदर नहीं था, बल्कि 'परमसुगन्धि' (अत्यंत सुगंधित) भी था। 'हिमात्यये' (सर्दी के जाने पर/वसंत में) पर्वत जैसे नई वनस्पति और फूलों से महकता है, वैसे ही यह विमान अगरु, धूप और फूलों की सुगंध से महक रहा था।
