Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मृदुष्व् अन्गेषु कासाम्चित् कुच अग्रेषु च सम्स्थिताः ।
बभूवुर् भूषणानि इव शुभा भूषण राजयः ॥ ॥५-९-५३॥
mṛduṣv angeṣu kāsāmcit kuca agreṣu ca samsthitāḥ |
babhūvur bhūṣaṇāni iva śubhā bhūṣaṇa rājayaḥ ॥5-9-53॥
Translation
On the soft limbs and on the nipples of some women, the beautiful impressions left by their jewelry appeared as if they were ornaments themselves.
हिंदी अनुवाद
किन्हीं स्त्रियों के कोमल अंगों और स्तनों के अग्रभाग पर (आभूषणों के दबने से) जो सुंदर आभूषणों की रेखाएँ (निशान) बन गई थीं, वे स्वयं आभूषणों के समान ही शोभा पा रही थीं।
English Commentary
This verse highlights the extreme delicacy and tenderness (sukumāratā) of the women's bodies. It notes that the pressure of the jewelry against their skin during sleep left impressions or marks (bhūṣaṇa rājayaḥ - lines of jewelry). The poet asserts that these marks themselves looked like ornaments. This observation serves two functions: first, it emphasizes the softness of their limbs and breasts, which are easily impressed even by inanimate objects; second, it suggests that their natural beauty renders even a blemish or a pressure mark into something decorative. It is a subtle observation of intimate details, showing Hanuma's keen observation of the sleeping beauties while maintaining a tone of aesthetic appreciation.

यह श्लोक स्त्रियों के अंगों की अत्यधिक कोमलता (सुकुमारता) का वर्णन करता है। कवि कहते हैं कि निद्रा में आभूषणों के दबने से उनके शरीर पर जो निशान (राजयः) पड़ गए थे, वे देखने में इतने सुंदर और स्पष्ट थे कि वे निशान ही आभूषण प्रतीत हो रहे थे। विशेष रूप से 'कुच अग्रेषु' (स्तनाग्रों पर) और 'मृदुष्व अंगेषु' (कोमल अंगों पर) का उल्लेख यह दर्शाता है कि उनका शरीर फूलों जैसा नाजुक था। यह वर्णन 'स्वभावोक्ति' के निकट है, जो प्रेम और विलास के चिन्हों को सौंदर्य का ही एक रूप मानता है। यह भी ध्वनित होता है कि उन्होंने भारी और कीमती आभूषण पहन रखे थे जो अब उनके शरीर का हिस्सा बन गए प्रतीत होते हैं।
