श्रुत्वा हनुमतो वाक्यं यथावदभिभाषितम् ।
रामः प्रीतिसमायुक्तो वाक्यमुत्तरमब्रवीत् ॥६-१-१॥
śrutvā hanumato vākyaṃ yathāvadabhibhāṣitam । rāmaḥ prītisamāyukto vākyamuttaramabravīt ॥6-1-1॥
Translation
Hearing the words of Hanuman, spoken exactly as events transpired, Shri Rama, filled with delight, spoke these words in reply.

हनुमान जी के द्वारा यथार्थ रूप (ज्यों का त्यों) से कहे गए वचनों को सुनकर, प्रसन्नता से युक्त श्री राम ने उत्तर रूप में यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
This opening verse of the Yuddhakanda marks a pivotal transition in the epic. Having returned from Lanka (end of Sundarakanda), Hanuman has delivered his report. The descriptor 'yathāvadabhibhāṣitam' (spoken exactly as it was) is scholarly significant; it highlights Hanuman's integrity as a messenger who reports facts without embellishment or ego. Shri Rama's reaction, described as 'prītisamāyukto' (filled with affection/delight), signifies a shift from the agonizing despair of separation to a proactive state of hope. Devotionally, this moment represents the Lord's satisfaction with the devotee's service (Seva). Before the strategies of war begin, the narrative pauses to acknowledge the bond between the Master (Swami) and the Servant (Dasa), grounded in truth and affection.

युद्धकाण्ड का यह प्रथम श्लोक वाल्मीकि श्री रामायण में एक निर्णायक मोड़ को दर्शाता है। सुंदरकाण्ड में हनुमान जी ने सीता जी की खोज पूर्ण की और अब वे श्री राम के समक्ष अपना प्रतिवेदन प्रस्तुत कर चुके हैं। यहाँ 'यथावदभिभाषितम्' (यथार्थ रूप से कहा गया) शब्द अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। यह दर्शाता है कि एक दूत के रूप में हनुमान जी ने बिना किसी अतिशयोक्ति या अहंकार के, सत्य और सटीक समाचार दिया। श्री राम, जो अब तक सीता के विरह में व्याकुल थे, अब 'प्रीतिसमायुक्तो' (प्रसन्नता से युक्त) हैं। यह प्रसन्नता केवल सीता का समाचार पाने की नहीं है, अपितु एक आदर्श सेवक द्वारा असंभव कार्य को संभव कर दिखाने के संतोष की भी है। यह श्लोक भगवान और भक्त के बीच संवाद की भूमिका तैयार करता है, जहाँ भगवान अपने भक्त के कृतित्व को स्वीकार कर रहे हैं।
