देवदानवयक्षाणां गन्धर्वोरगरक्षसाम् ।
अप्रधृष्यां पुरीं लङ्कां रावणेन सुरक्षिताम् ॥६-१-४॥
devadānavayakṣāṇāṃ gandharvoragarakṣasām । apradhṛṣyāṃ purīṃ laṅkāṃ rāvaṇena surakṣitām ॥6-1-4॥
Translation
The city of Lanka, well-protected by Ravana, is unassailable even by Devas, Danavas, Yakshas, Gandharvas, Uragas (serpents), and Rakshasas.

लंका पुरी, जो रावण द्वारा भली-भांति सुरक्षित है, देवताओं, दानवों, यक्षों, गन्धर्वों, नागों और राक्षसों के लिए भी 'अधृष्य' (जिस पर आक्रमण करना या जिसे जीतना अत्यंत कठिन) है।
English Commentary
To strictly qualify the magnitude of Hanuman's success, Shri Rama describes the impregnability of the target. Lanka is not just a city; it is a fortress guarded by Ravana, fearing neither gods nor demons. The list includes all classes of supernatural beings (Devas, Danavas, Yakshas, etc.) to assert that Lanka was essentially invincible. The word 'apradhṛṣyāṃ' (unassailable/invincible) sets the context: Hanuman has breached a defense that the collective power of the universe hesitated to challenge. This foreshadows the immense scale of the war that Shri Rama is about to undertake.

हनुमान जी की सफलता का सही आकलन करने के लिए श्री राम पहले लक्ष्य (लंका) की कठिनाई का वर्णन करते हैं। लंका केवल एक नगर नहीं थी, वह रावण की तपस्या और शक्ति से सुरक्षित एक अभेद्य दुर्ग था। 'अधृष्य' शब्द का अर्थ है जिसे दबाया न जा सके या जिस पर विजय पाना असंभव हो। यहाँ विभिन्न योनियों (देव, दानव, यक्ष आदि) का उल्लेख यह बताने के लिए किया गया है कि सृष्टि की समस्त शक्तिशाली जातियाँ भी रावण की सुरक्षा व्यवस्था को भेदने में असमर्थ थीं। ऐसे दुर्गम स्थान में अकेले प्रवेश करना हनुमान जी के शौर्य की पराकाष्ठा है।
