विस्फारयितुमारेभे ततः स धनुरुत्तमम् ।
महावेगं महानादं निर्भिन्दन्निव मेदिनीम् ॥६-१००-१५॥
visphārayitumārebhe tataḥ sa dhanuruttamam |
mahāvegaṃ mahānādaṃ nirbhindanniva medinīm ॥6-100-15॥
Translation
Then he began to twang that excellent bow. It had great force and a loud sound, appearing to split the earth.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनन्तर उन्होंने उस उत्तम धनुष की टंकार (विस्फार) करनी शुरू की। वह टंकार महावेग वाली और महाशब्द वाली थी, जो मानो पृथ्वी को फाड़े दे रही थी।
English Commentary

धनुष की टंकार (प्रत्यंचा खींचने का शब्द) युद्ध का शंखनाद है। श्रीश्री राम के धनुष की ध्वनि इतनी तीव्र ('महानादं') थी कि लगा पृथ्वी फट जाएगी ('निर्भिन्दन्निव मेदिनीम्')। यह ध्वनि रावण के रथ की घरघराहट का उत्तर थी और इसने भागती हुई वानर सेना में पुनः साहस भर दिया होगा।
