तयोः शरपथं प्राप्तो रावणो राजपुत्रयोः ।
स बभौ च यथा राहुः समीपे शशिसूर्ययोः ॥६-१००-१७॥
tayoḥ śarapathaṃ prāpto rāvaṇo rājaputrayoḥ |
sa babhau ca yathā rāhuḥ samīpe śaśisūryayoḥ ॥6-100-17॥
Translation
Coming within the range of the arrows of those two princes, Ravana appeared like Rahu approaching the Moon and the Sun.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उन दोनों राजकुमारों (श्री राम-लक्ष्मण) के बाणों की पहुँच (रेंज) में आया हुआ रावण ऐसा सुशोभित (प्रतीत) हुआ, जैसे चन्द्रमा और सूर्य के समीप राहु आया हो।
English Commentary
The simile compares the encounter to a cosmic eclipse. Shri Rama and Lakshmana are the luminaries (Sun and Moon), representing light and dharma. Ravana is Rahu, the shadow planet that causes eclipses. This imagery foreshadows a temporary obscuration of light by darkness, symbolizing the intense battle ahead.

यहाँ एक खगोलीय उपमा दी गई है। श्री राम 'सूर्य' हैं, लक्ष्मण 'चन्द्रमा' हैं, और रावण 'राहु' है। जैसे ग्रहण के समय राहु सूर्य और चन्द्रमा को ग्रसने आता है, वैसे ही रावण इन्हें मारने आया है। यह उपमा संकट की गंभीरता और आसन्न 'ग्रहण' (युद्ध) को दर्शाती है।
