तमिच्छन् प्रथमं योद्धुं लक्ष्मणो निशितैः शरैः ।
मुमोच धनुरायम्य शरानग्निशिखोपमान् ॥६-१००-१८॥
tamicchan prathamaṃ yoddhuṃ lakṣmaṇo niśitaiḥ śaraiḥ |
mumoca dhanurāyamya śarānagniśikhopamān ॥6-100-18॥
Translation
Wishing to fight him first, Lakshmana drew his bow and released sharp arrows resembling crests of fire.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस (रावण) से पहले युद्ध करने की इच्छा रखते हुए, लक्ष्मण ने अपना धनुष खींचकर अग्नि की शिखा (लपटों) के समान तीखे बाण छोड़े।
English Commentary
Lakshmana's devotion leads him to interpose himself between the enemy and his brother. Wishing to engage first ('prathamaṃ yoddhuṃ'), he unleashes arrows fiery like flames. This reflects his protective nature and his eagerness to bear the brunt of the assault to shield Shri Rama.
हिंदी टीका
लक्ष्मण का चरित्र सदैव 'रक्षक' और 'पहल करने वाले' का रहा है। वे नहीं चाहते कि उनके अग्रज को पहले कष्ट उठाना पड़े, इसलिए वे स्वयं रावण से भिड़ने का निर्णय लेते हैं। उनके बाण 'अग्निशिखोपमान्' (आग की लपटों जैसे) हैं, जो उनके क्रोध और तेज को दर्शाते हैं।
