शरान्धकारमाकाशं चक्रतुः परमं तदा ।
गते ऽस्तं तपने चापि महामेघाविवोत्थितौ ॥६-१००-३०॥

śarāndhakāramākāśaṃ cakratuḥ paramaṃ tadā |
gate 'staṃ tapane cāpi mahāmeghāvivotthitau ॥6-100-30॥

Translation

They created a supreme darkness of arrows in the sky, appearing like two great clouds rising even after the sun has set.

हिंदी अनुवाद

जैसे सूर्य के अस्त होने पर दो महामेघ उठे हों, वैसे ही उन दोनों ने आकाश में बाणों का घोर अंधकार कर दिया।

English Commentary

The arrow-cloud blocks out the sun, creating artificial darkness ('śarāndhakāram'). The combatants are likened to two massive storm clouds colliding in the twilight. This imagery evokes a sense of gloom and apocalyptic confrontation.

हिंदी टीका

बाणों की संख्या इतनी अधिक है कि दिन में अंधकार ('शरान्धकारं') हो गया। श्री राम और रावण दो 'महामेघों' (विशाल बादलों) की तरह हैं जो एक-दूसरे से टकरा रहे हैं। सूर्य का अस्त होना (प्रतीकात्मक रूप से) प्रकाश के लोप और विनाश के आगमन का सूचक है।
