Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
आसुरं सुमहाघोरमस्त्रं प्रादुश्चकार ह ।
सिंहव्याघ्रमुखांश्चान्यान् कङ्ककाकमुखानपि ॥६-१००-४१॥
āsuraṃ sumahāghoramastraṃ prāduścakāra ha |
siṃhavyāghramukhāṃścānyān kaṅkakākamukhānapi ॥6-100-41॥
Translation
...manifested the extremely terrible 'Asura' Astra. (From it came) arrows with faces of lions and tigers, and others with faces of herons/buzzards and crows.
हिंदी अनुवाद
...अत्यंत घोर 'आसुर' अस्त्र प्रकट किया। (उस अस्त्र से) सिंह और व्याघ्र के मुख वाले तथा कंक (गिद्ध) और कौवे के मुख वाले बाण (निकले)।
English Commentary
The 'Asura' Astra creates shape-shifting projectiles. The arrows take the forms of predators and scavengers (lions, tigers, crows). This represents the chaotic and predatory nature of Asuric power, designed to terrorize the opponent with grotesque imagery.

रावण 'आसुर' अस्त्र का प्रयोग करता है। यह एक मायावी अस्त्र है जो बाणों को हिंसक पशु-पक्षियों के मुख का आकार दे देता है। सिंह, बाघ, कौवे आदि के मुख वाले बाण न केवल शारीरिक घाव देते हैं, बल्कि मानसिक भय भी उत्पन्न करते हैं।
