Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
चन्द्रार्धचन्द्रवक्त्रांश्च धूमकेतुमुखानपि ।
ग्रहनक्षत्रवक्त्रांश्च महोल्कामुखसंस्थितान् ॥६-१००-४७॥
candrārdhacandravaktrāṃśca dhūmaketumukhānapi |
grahanakṣatravaktrāṃśca maholkāmukhasaṃsthitān ॥6-100-47॥
Translation
And arrows with faces of the moon and half-moon, comet faces, faces of planets and stars, and massive meteors.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तथा चन्द्रमा और अर्धचन्द्र के मुख वाले, धूमकेतु (पुच्छल तारे) के मुख वाले, ग्रहों और नक्षत्रों के मुख वाले, और विशाल उल्काओं के मुख वाले (बाण निकले)।
English Commentary
The contrast is symbolic: Ravana used animals (earthly/beastly nature), Shri Rama uses celestial bodies (heavenly nature). Moon, comets ('dhūmaketu'), stars, and meteors represent cosmic order and light. Shri Rama's counter-attack elevates the battle to a celestial level, overwhelming the earthly monsters.
हिंदी टीका
रावण के बाण 'पशु' रूपी थे (तमस), श्री राम के बाण 'ज्योतिष्पिंड' रूपी हैं (प्रकाश)। चन्द्रमा, धूमकेतु, ग्रह, नक्षत्र, उल्का—ये सब ब्रह्मांडीय प्रकाश पुंज हैं। श्रीश्री राम ने आसुरी सृष्टि के विरुद्ध दिव्य ब्रह्मांडीय शक्ति खड़ी कर दी।
