तैः सायकैर्महावेगै रावणस्य महाद्युतिः ।
ध्वजं मनुष्यशीर्षं तु तस्य चिच्छेद नैकधा ॥६-१०१-१४॥
taiḥ sāyakairmahāvegai rāvaṇasya mahādyutiḥ |
dhvajaṃ manuṣyaśīrṣaṃ tu tasya ciccheda naikadhā ॥6-101-14॥
Translation
With those high-velocity arrows, the highly radiant Lakshmana shattered Ravana's banner—which bore the emblem of a human head—into many pieces.

उन अत्यंत वेगवान बाणों से महातेजस्वी लक्ष्मण ने रावण के उस ध्वज को, जिस पर मनुष्य का सिर बना था, कई टुकड़ों में काट दिया।
English Commentary
Severing the banner is a symbol of great humiliation and defeat for any king. Ravana's banner bearing a 'human head' was an emblem of his cruelty and contempt for humanity. By destroying it, Shri Lakshmana symbolically ground Ravana's pride into the dust.

ध्वजा का कटना किसी भी राजा के लिए महान अपमान और पराजय का प्रतीक होता है। रावण के ध्वज पर 'मनुष्य का सिर' होना उसकी क्रूरता और मानवता के प्रति घृणा का सूचक था। श्री लक्ष्मण जी ने उस ध्वज को नष्ट कर प्रतीकात्मक रूप से रावण के गौरव को धूल में मिला दिया।
