लक्ष्मणाय समुद्दिश्य ज्वलन्तीमिव तेजसा ।
रावणः परमक्रुद्धश्चिक्षेप च ननाद च ॥६-१०१-३१॥
lakṣmaṇāya samaddiśya jvalantīmiva tējasā |
rāvaṇaḥ paramakrūddhaścikṣēpa ca nanāda ca ॥6-101-31॥
Translation
Aiming at Lakshmana, the exceedingly enraged Ravana hurled that Shakti, which was blazing with its own luster, and roared loudly.
हिंदी अनुवाद
लक्ष्मण को लक्ष्य करके, अपने तेज से जलती हुई उस शक्ति को अत्यंत क्रोधित रावण ने छोड़ा और जोर से गर्जना की।
English Commentary
Ravana's roar ('Nanada') accompanied his strike, intended to strike terror into the Vanara army. The 'blazing' nature of the Shakti signifies the elemental fire contained within it. This was the hurl Ravana considered to be his final victory. This marks the beginning of the most heart-stopping moment in the battle.

रावण का गर्जन (ननाद) उसके प्रहार के साथ जुड़ा हुआ था, जो वानर सेना के मन में आतंक पैदा करने के लिए था। शक्ति का 'ज्वलन्तीम्' (जलती हुई) होना उसके भीतर समाहित अग्नि-तत्त्व को दर्शाता है। यह रावण का वह प्रहार था जिसे वह अंतिम मान रहा था। यहाँ से युद्ध का वह क्षण शुरू होता है जहाँ धड़कनें रुक जाती हैं।
