अरावणमरामं वा जगद्द्रक्ष्यथ वानराः ।
राज्यनाशं वने वासं दण्डके परिधावनम् ॥६-१०१-४९॥
arāvaṇamarāmaṃ vā jagad drakṣyatha vānarāḥ |
rājyanāśaṃ vanē vāsaṃ daṇḍakē paridhāvanam ॥6-101-49॥
Translation
O monkeys! Today you shall behold the world either without Ravana or without Shri Rama. The loss of the kingdom, the dwelling in the forest, and the wandering in Dandaka—

हे वानरों! आज तुम इस जगत को या तो रावण-रहित देखोगे या श्री राम-रहित। राज्य का छिनना, वन में निवास और दण्डकारण्य में भटकना—
English Commentary
This is one of the most powerful proclamations in the Ramayana. Shri Rama declares a 'do or die' situation. The phrase 'Aravanam Amaram Va' proves that there is no longer any room for compromise. He recalls the suffering of the past fourteen years, which fuels a fire of justice rather than mere revenge within Him.

यह श्री रामायण के सबसे शक्तिशाली वचनों में से एक है। श्री राम यहाँ 'करो या मरो' की स्थिति की घोषणा कर रहे हैं। 'अरावणम् अरामं वा' (बिना रावण के या बिना श्री राम के) शब्द यह सिद्ध करते हैं कि अब समझौते का कोई स्थान नहीं है। वे अपने पिछले चौदह वर्षों के कष्टों को याद कर रहे हैं, जो उनके भीतर प्रतिशोध की नहीं, बल्कि न्याय की ज्वाला जला रहे हैं।
