English Commentary
This scene is one of the most emotional and critical moments in the Yuddhakanda. The description of Ravana as 'Baliyasah' (extremely powerful) highlights the formidable demonic force that managed to render even Shri Lakshmana, the incarnation of Lord Shesha, unconscious. Seeing his brother covered in blood, Shri Rama's heart is torn. This verse sets the stage for the intense depiction of the horrors of war and the depth of fraternal love.
