इत्यवं विलपन्तं तं शोकविह्वलितेन्द्रियम् ।
विवेष्टमानं करुणमुच्छ्वसन्तं पुनःपुनः ॥६-१०२-१४॥
ityevaṃ vilapantaṃ taṃ śokavihvalitendriyam |
viveṣṭamānaṃ karuṇamucchvasantaṃ punaḥpunaḥ ॥6-102-14॥
Translation
To that Shri Rama who was thus lamenting, whose senses were overwhelmed with grief, who was writhing on the ground and sighing deeply again and again—

इस प्रकार विलाप करते हुए, शोक से व्याकुल इन्द्रियों वाले, भूमि पर तड़पते हुए और बार-बार लंबी साँसें लेते हुए उन श्री राम को—
English Commentary
A piteous description of Shri Rama's physical and mental state is given here. The word 'Viveshtamanam' (writhing) expresses His internal agitation. He has become the personification of grief. This sight was capable of shattering the Vanara army's morale, as their leader was losing His own composure. From here, the intervention of Sushena becomes mandatory.

श्री राम की शारीरिक और मानसिक अवस्था का यहाँ करुण चित्रण है। 'विवेष्टमानम्' (तड़पना) शब्द उनके आंतरिक क्षोभ को व्यक्त करता है। वे साक्षात् शोक के विग्रह बन गए हैं। यह दृश्य वानर सेना के मनोबल को पूरी तरह तोड़ देने वाला था, क्योंकि उनके नायक स्वयं अपनी चेतना खो रहे थे। यहाँ से सुषेण का हस्तक्षेप अनिवार्य हो जाता है।
