एष रावणवीर्येण लक्ष्मणः पतितः क्षितौ ।
सर्पवद्वेष्टते वीरो मम शोकमुदीरयन् ॥६-१०२-३॥
eṣa rāvaṇavīryeṇa lakṣmaṇaḥ patitaḥ kṣitau |
sarpavadvveṣṭate vīro mama śokamudīrayan ॥6-102-3॥
Translation
By the prowess of Ravana, this heroic Lakshmana lies fallen on the earth, writhing like a serpent and intensifying my grief.
हिंदी अनुवाद
रावण के पराक्रम से यह वीर लक्ष्मण भूमि पर पड़ा है और मेरे शोक को बढ़ाता हुआ सर्प की भाँति तड़प रहा है।
English Commentary
Shri Rama describes the physical agony of Shri Lakshmana. The comparison to a writhing serpent indicates the piercing impact of the missile and its potentially toxic effects. Witnessing such a state of Lakshmana, who is the incarnation of Lord Shesha, Shri Rama’s lamentation reveals His profound human sensitivity. This scene evokes a deep sense of 'Karuna' (pathos) in the narrative.

श्री राम यहाँ श्री लक्ष्मण जी की शारीरिक वेदना का वर्णन कर रहे हैं। 'सर्पवत्' (सर्प की भांति) तड़पना बाणों और विषैले अस्त्र के प्रभाव को सूचित करता है। लक्ष्मण जी, जो स्वयं शेषनाग हैं, उनकी ऐसी अवस्था देखकर श्री राम का विलाप उनके अटूट मानवीय संवेदनाओं को प्रकट करता है। यह दृश्य पाठक के मन में करुण रस का संचार करता है।
