शोणितार्द्रमिमं वीरं प्राणैरिष्टतमं मम ।
पश्यतो मम का शक्तिर्योद्धुं पर्याकुलात्मनः ॥६-१०२-४॥
śoṇitārdramimaṃ vīraṃ prāṇairiṣṭatamaṃ mama |
paśyato mama kā śaktiryoddhuṃ paryākulātmanaḥ ॥6-102-4॥
Translation
Seeing this hero, who is dearer to me than my own life, drenched in blood, what strength do I have to fight, with my mind so agitated?

रक्त से भीगे हुए और मेरे प्राणों से भी अधिक प्रिय इस वीर को इस अवस्था में देखते हुए, मुझ व्याकुल मन वाले में युद्ध करने की अब क्या शक्ति शेष है?
English Commentary
Shri Rama confesses His immense love for Shri Lakshmana, calling him 'dearer than life.' When one's most beloved is in peril, the desire for victory fades. His self-questioning about His strength to fight reflects the overwhelming nature of grief that can cloud even the most resolute mind. This portrays the Lord's human aspect, where sorrow momentarily challenges His sense of purpose.

श्री राम यहाँ अपने जीवन के केंद्र बिंदु, श्री लक्ष्मण जी के प्रति अपने प्रेम को स्वीकार करते हैं। जब सबसे प्रिय व्यक्ति संकट में हो, तो विजय की आकांक्षा भी धूमिल पड़ जाती है। 'प्राणैरिष्टतमम्' (प्राणों से प्रिय) शब्द उनके सम्बन्ध की गहराई बताते हैं। यहाँ भगवान का वह मानवीय रूप है जो शोक में डूबकर अपनी शक्ति और उद्देश्य पर ही प्रश्नचिह्न लगा देता है।
