आजघान महाघोरैर्धाराभिरिव तोयदः ।
दीप्तपावक सङ्काशैः शरैः काञ्चनभूषणैः ॥६-१०३-४॥
ājaghāna mahāghorairdhārābhiriva toyadaḥ |
dīptapāvaka saṅkāśaiḥ śaraiḥ kāñcanabhūṣaṇaiḥ ॥6-103-4॥
Translation
Just as a cloud strikes with streams of water, he struck (Shri Rama) with terribly fearful arrows adorned with gold, looking like blazing fire.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जैसे बादल जल की धाराओं से (पर्वत को मारता है), वैसे ही उसने (रावण ने) प्रज्वलित अग्नि के समान और स्वर्ण विभूषित महाघोर बाणों से (श्री राम पर) प्रहार किया।
English Commentary
Ravana's arrow shower was like a torrential downpour. The arrows, resembling 'diptapavaka' (blazing fire), symbolize his demonic power and rage. Shri Rama is still on the ground while Ravana is on a chariot, giving Ravana the advantage of height and speed, which leads to the Devas' concern in subsequent verses.
हिंदी टीका
रावण की बाण वर्षा मूसलाधार बारिश जैसी थी। 'दीप्तपावक संकाशैः' (जलती आग के समान) बाण उसकी आसुरी शक्ति और क्रोध का प्रतीक हैं। श्री राम अभी भूमि पर हैं और रावण रथ पर, जिससे रावण को ऊंचाई और गति का लाभ मिल रहा था, जो अगले श्लोकों में देवताओं की चिंता का कारण बनेगा।
