Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सूतस्तु रथनेता ऽस्य तदवस्थं समीक्ष्य तम् ।
शनैर्युद्धादसम्भ्रान्तो रथं तस्यापवाहयत् ॥६-१०५-३०॥
sūtastu rathanētā ऽ sya tadavasthaṃ samīkṣya tam |
śanaīryuddhādasambh rāntō rathaṃ tasyāpavāhayat ॥6-105-30॥
Translation
Seeing him in that condition, the charioteer who was guiding the vehicle calmly and slowly drove his chariot away from the battle.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस रावण की ऐसी अवस्था को देखकर, उसके रथ को चलाने वाले सारथी ने बिना घबराए धीरे-धीरे उसके रथ को युद्धभूमि से दूर हटा लिया।
English Commentary
The charioteer proved to be more composed and wise than Ravana at this moment. He realized his master was no longer fit to fight. Driving the chariot away 'calmly' ('Asambhrantah') was a duty to provide the warrior a chance to recover. However, this retreat was the final seal on Ravana's downfall.
हिंदी टीका
सारथी यहाँ रावण से अधिक स्थिर और बुद्धिमान सिद्ध हुआ। उसने देखा कि उसका स्वामी अब लड़ने की स्थिति में नहीं है। 'असम्भ्रान्तः' (बिना घबराए) रथ को हटाना एक कुशल सारथी का धर्म है ताकि योद्धा को संभलने का अवसर मिल सके। किन्तु यह पलायन रावण के पतन की अंतिम मुहर थी।
