Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
गम्यवाणविभिन्नाङ्गो रावणो गक्षसेश्वर् ।
निष्पन्नविक्रमः संस्थ्ये रणे श्रान्तः पुपात सः ॥६-१०५-३१॥
gamyavāṇavibhinnāṅgō rāvaṇō gākṣasēśvar |
niṣpannavikramaḥ saṃsthyē raṇē śrāntaḥ pupāta saḥ ॥6-105-31॥
Translation
With his limbs torn by arrows, his prowess exhausted, and being utterly weary in the battle, that lord of Rakshasas, Ravana, fell to the ground.
हिंदी अनुवाद
बाणों से विदीर्ण अंगों वाला, पराक्रम खो चुका और युद्ध में अत्यंत थका हुआ वह राक्षसों का स्वामी रावण भूमि पर गिर पड़ा।
English Commentary
Ravana's fall marks his physical and mental collapse. The term 'Nishpanna-vikramah' suggests his valor had been spent. The king of Lanka, who once terrorized the three worlds, now lay in the dust. It portrays the end of unrighteousness where, after immense opulence, only ash and soil remain.
हिंदी टीका
रावण का यह पतन उसके शारीरिक और मानसिक पराभव का सूचक है। 'निष्पन्नविक्रमः' शब्द यह बताता है कि उसकी वीरता अब समाप्त हो चुकी थी। लंका का वह राजा, जिससे तीनों लोक डरते थे, आज धूल में पड़ा था। यह अधर्म के उस अंत का चित्रण है जहाँ भारी वैभव के बाद केवल राख और मिट्टी ही हाथ लगती है।
