ततः शरसहस्राणि क्षिप्रहस्तो निशाचरः ।
निजघानोरसि क्रुद्धो राघवस्य महात्मनः ॥६-१०५-६॥
tataḥ śarasahasrāṇi kṣiprahasto niśācaraḥ |
nijaghānorasi kruddho rāghavasya mahātmanaḥ ॥6-105-6॥
Translation
Then the quick-handed night-stalker Ravana, filled with rage, struck the chest of the high-souled Shri Rama with thousands of arrows.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब शीघ्रता से हाथ चलाने वाले उस निशाचर रावण ने क्रोध में भरकर महात्मा श्री रघुनाथ जी की छाती पर हजारों बाणों से प्रहार किया।
English Commentary
Ravana is described as 'Kshiprahastah' (quick-handed), indicating his martial dexterity. He targeted Shri Rama's vital chest region. The epithet 'Mahatmanah' highlights Shri Rama's magnanimity and endurance, as He does not abandon His nobility even while sustaining strikes. Ravana is channelling his entire violent energy into this direct assault on the Lord.

रावण को 'क्षिप्रहस्तः' (तेज हाथ चलाने वाला) कहा गया है, जो उसकी युद्ध-निपुणता का सूचक है। उसने श्री राम के मर्म स्थल 'वक्ष' (छाती) को लक्ष्य बनाया। 'महात्मनः' विशेषण श्री राम की उस उदारता और सहनशीलता को रेखांकित करता है जो प्रहार सहते हुए भी अपनी मर्यादा नहीं त्यागते। रावण यहाँ अपनी पूरी हिंसात्मक ऊर्जा का प्रयोग श्री राम को चोट पहुँचाने के लिए कर रहा है।
