Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स तु मोहात् सुसङ्क्रुद्धः कृतान्तबलचोदितः ।
क्रोधसंरक्तनयनो रावणः सूतमब्रवीत् ॥६-१०६-१॥
sa tu mohāt susaṅkruddhaḥ kṛtāntabalacoditaḥ |
krodhasaṃraktanayano rāvaṇaḥ sūtamabravīt ॥6-106-1॥
Translation
But he, Ravana, extremely enraged due to delusion and impelled by the power of fate (Death), with eyes red with anger, spoke to the charioteer.
हिंदी अनुवाद
परंतु वह रावण, मोह के कारण अत्यंत क्रोधित और काल (मृत्यु) के बल से प्रेरित होकर, क्रोध से लाल नेत्रों वाला होकर सारथी से बोला।
English Commentary
Ravana's charioteer had saved his life by removing him from the battlefield in the previous sarga, but Ravana perceives this as an insult. The word 'mohat' (due to delusion) indicates that Ravana has lost his discrimination. 'Kritantabalachoditah' (impelled by the force of Death) signals that his end is near, which is why he rejects even beneficial actions. As the saying goes, 'Vinasha kale viparita buddhi' (In times of destruction, the intellect works perversely).

रावण के सारथी ने पिछले सर्ग में उसे रणभूमि से हटाकर उसके प्राण बचाए थे, किन्तु रावण इसे अपमान समझ रहा है। 'मोहात्' (मोह के कारण) शब्द बताता है कि रावण का विवेक नष्ट हो चुका है। 'कृतान्तबलचोदितः' (काल से प्रेरित) यह संकेत है कि उसका अंत निकट है, इसलिए वह हितकारी सलाह को भी ठुकरा रहा है। विनाश काले विपरीत बुद्धि।
