रथोद्वहनखिन्नाश्च त इमे रथवाजिनः ।
दीना धर्मपरिश्रान्ता गावो वर्षहता इव ॥६-१०६-१६॥
rathodvahanakhinnāśca ta ime rathavājinaḥ |
dīnā dharmapariśrāntā gāvo varṣahatā iva ॥6-106-16॥
Translation
"These chariot horses, exhausted from pulling the chariot, are miserable and worn out by the heat, like cows battered by rain."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"रथ को ढोने से थके हुए ये रथ के घोड़े भी दीन और धूप/गर्मी से अत्यंत क्लांत हो गए हैं, जैसे वर्षा से पीड़ित गायें होती हैं।"
English Commentary
Not just the warrior, but his vehicles also fight the war. The horses were 'dina' (miserable) and 'gharmaparishranta' (exhausted by heat). If horses fail, the warrior's death is certain. The simile of 'cows battered by rain' depicts the pitiable condition of the horses.

युद्ध केवल योद्धा नहीं, उसके वाहन भी लड़ते हैं। घोड़े 'दीन' और 'घर्मपरिश्रान्ता' (गर्मी से थके) थे। यदि घोड़े साथ न दें, तो रथी की मृत्यु निश्चित है। 'वर्षहता गावः' (बारिश में भीगी गायें) की उपमा घोड़ों की दयनीय स्थिति को दर्शाती है।
