स्थलनिम्नानि भूमेश्च समानि विषमाणि च ।
युद्धकालश्च विज्ञेयः परस्यान्तरदर्शनम् ॥६-१०६-१९॥
sthalanimnāni bhūmeśca samāni viṣamāṇi ca |
yuddhakālaśca vijñeyaḥ parasyāntaradarśanam ॥6-106-19॥
Translation
"Knowledge of the high and low, level and uneven terrains of the ground, the proper time for battle, and spotting the enemy's weak points (is also essential)."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"भूमि के ऊंचे-नीचे, सम और विषम स्थानों का ज्ञान, युद्ध के उचित समय का ज्ञान और शत्रु के छिद्रों (कमजोरियों) को देखना (भी आवश्यक है)।"
English Commentary
Knowledge of terrain is mandatory for a charioteer—where the chariot can speed up, where it might get stuck. 'Parasya antaradarshanam' (spotting the enemy's weakness) is a crucial skill. The charioteer serves as the warrior's second pair of eyes.

सारथी को भूगोल (Terrain) का ज्ञान होना अनिवार्य है—कहाँ रथ तेज चलेगा, कहाँ फंसेगा। 'परस्य अन्तरदर्शनम्' (शत्रु की कमजोरी देखना) एक महत्वपूर्ण कौशल है। सारथी रथी की दूसरी आंखें होता है।
