तव विश्रमहेतोश्च तथैषां रथवाजिनाम् ।
रौद्रं वर्जयता खेदं क्षमं कृतमिदं मया ॥६-१०६-२१॥
tava viśramahetośca tathaivaiṣāṃ rathavājinām |
raudraṃ varjayatā khedaṃ kṣamaṃ kṛtamidaṃ mayā ॥6-106-21॥
Translation
"For the sake of your rest and also for these chariot horses, to avoid terrible fatigue (or exhaustion), I have done this appropriate deed."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"आपके विश्श्री राम के लिए और इन रथ के घोड़ों के लिए भी, भयानक थकान (खेद) को दूर करने (या उससे बचाने) के लिए, मैंने यह उचित कार्य किया है।"
English Commentary
The charioteer justifies his decision. The goal was to provide 'rest' so that terrible exhaustion ('raudram khedam') would not become fatal. An exhausted warrior and tired horses cannot win a war.
हिंदी टीका
सारथी अपने निर्णय का औचित्य सिद्ध करता है। उद्देश्य 'विश्श्री राम' देना था ताकि भयानक थकान ('रौद्रं खेदं') प्राणघातक न बन जाए। एक थका हुआ योद्धा और थके हुए घोड़े युद्ध नहीं जीत सकते।
