हिरण्यगर्भः शिशिरस्तपनो भास्करो रविः ।
अग्निगर्भो ऽदितेः पुत्रः शङ्खः शिशिरनाशनः ॥६-१०७-१२॥
hiraṇyagarbhaḥ śiśirastapano bhāskaro raviḥ |
agnigarbho 'diteḥ putraḥ śaṅkhaḥ śiśiranāśanaḥ ॥6-107-12॥
Translation
"He is Hiranyagarbha, Shishira, Tapana, Bhaskara, Ravi, Agnigarbha (womb of fire), Aditi's son, Shankha, and Shishiranashana (destroyer of cold)."
हिंदी अनुवाद
ये हिरण्यगर्भ, शिशिर (शीतल स्वभाव), तपन (तपाने वाले), भास्कर, रवि, अग्निगर्भ (जिनके गर्भ में अग्नि है), अदितिपुत्र, शंख और शिशिरनाशन (शीत का नाश करने वाले) हैं।
English Commentary
The Sun embodies contrasting qualities: he is both 'Shishira' (cool/peaceful) and 'Tapana' (scorching). As 'Agnigarbha', he holds the primal fire within. Being 'Shishiranashana' implies he removes inertia and coldness. Shri Rama needs the 'Tapana' aspect to scorch the enemy.

सूर्य विरोधाभासी गुणों का संगम हैं—वे 'शिशिर' (शीतल) भी हैं और 'तपन' (जलाने वाले) भी। वे 'शिशिरनाशन' (ठंड/जड़ता को दूर करने वाले) हैं। 'अग्निगर्भ' बताता है कि समस्त अग्नि तत्व उन्हीं में निहित है। श्री राम को रावण को जलाने के लिए इसी 'तपन' शक्ति की आवश्यकता है।
