Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
नमः पूर्वाय गिरये पश्चिमे गिरये नमः ।
ज्योतिर्गणानां पतये दिनाधिपतये नमः ॥६-१०७-१६॥
namaḥ pūrvāya giraye paścime giraye namaḥ |
jyotirgaṇānāṃ pataye dinādhipataye namaḥ ॥6-107-16॥
Translation
"Salutations to the eastern mountain (sunrise) and salutations to the western mountain (sunset). Salutations to the Lord of stellar bodies and the Lord of the Day."
हिंदी अनुवाद
पूर्व दिशा के (उदयाचल) पर्वत को नमस्कार और पश्चिम दिशा के (अस्ताचल) पर्वत को नमस्कार। ज्योतिर्मय ग्रहों (तारों) के स्वामी और दिन के अधिपति को नमस्कार।
English Commentary
Salutations are offered to the rising and setting points, symbolizing mastery over the beginning and end of all endeavors. Acknowledging him as 'Dinadhipati' (Lord of the Day) is a prayer for mastering the current day of battle.
हिंदी टीका
सूर्य की दैनिक यात्रा के दोनों छोरों (उदय और अस्त) को नमन किया गया है। यह जीवन के आरंभ और अंत, तथा संघर्ष और विश्श्री राम दोनों के प्रति सम्मान है। 'दिनाधिपतये' कहकर उन्हें समय का शासक माना गया है, जो युद्ध के 'दिन' को श्री राम के पक्ष में करने की प्रार्थना है।
