तमोघ्नाय हिमध्नाय शत्रुघ्नायामितात्मने ।
कृतघ्नघ्नाय देवाय ज्योतिषां पतये नमः ॥६-१०७-२०॥
tamoghnāya himaghnāya śatrughnāyāmitātmane |
kṛtaghnaghnāya devāya jyotiṣāṃ pataye namaḥ ॥6-107-20॥
Translation
"Salutations to the destroyer of darkness, destroyer of cold, destroyer of enemies, the immeasurable one, the destroyer of the ungrateful, the God, and the Lord of lights."
हिंदी अनुवाद
अंधकार का नाश करने वाले, जड़ता (हिम) का नाश करने वाले, शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाले, अपरिमित आत्मा वाले, कृतघ्नों का नाश करने वाले, देव और ज्योतियों के स्वामी को नमस्कार।
English Commentary
Specific destructive powers are invoked: 'Tamoghna' (Darkness-killer), 'Shatrughna' (Enemy-killer), and crucially 'Krtaghnaghna' (Slayer of the ungrateful). Ravana represents ingratitude towards the divine order. Shri Rama aligns himself with the cosmic force that punishes such treachery.

सूर्य 'शत्रुघ्न' (शत्रुनाशक) हैं, जो श्री राम का अभीष्ट है। वे 'कृतघ्नघ्न' (कृतघ्नों को मारने वाले) भी हैं—रावण कृतघ्न है जिसने शिव और ब्रह्मा के वरदानों का दुरुपयोग किया। 'अमितात्मने' का अर्थ है कि उनकी शक्ति की कोई सीमा नहीं है।
