Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सर्वमङ्गलमङ्गल्यं सर्वपापप्रणाशनम् ।
चिन्ताशोकप्रशमनमायुर्वर्धनमुत्तमम् ॥६-१०७-५॥
sarvamaṅgalamaṅgalyaṃ sarvapāpapraṇāśanam |
cintāśokapraśamanamāyurvardhanamuttamam ॥6-107-5॥
Translation
"It is the supreme blessing of all blessings, the destroyer of all sins, the alleviator of anxiety and grief, and the best preserver of life/longevity."
हिंदी अनुवाद
यह सभी मंगलों का भी मंगल (सर्वश्रेष्ठ कल्याण) है, समस्त पापों का नाशक है, चिंता और शोक को शमन करने वाला तथा आयु को बढ़ाने वाला उत्तम साधन है।
English Commentary
This verse directly addresses Shri Rama's current state of 'chinta' (anxiety) and 'shoka' (grief). The sage asserts that this hymn acts as a tranquilizer ('prashamanam') for mental distress. 'Sarvamangalamangalyam' implies it is the auspiciousness behind all auspicious things. Given the life-threatening nature of war, stating it is 'ayurvardhanam' (increaser of longevity) is particularly relevant.
हिंदी टीका
यह श्लोक श्रीश्री राम की तत्कालीन मानसिक स्थिति—'चिंता' और 'शोक'—का सीधा उपचार है। ऋषि कहते हैं कि यह स्तोत्र इन दोनों का 'प्रशमन' (शमन/नाश) करता है। 'सर्वमंगलमंगल्यं' का अर्थ है कि यह संसार की सभी शुभ वस्तुओं में सबसे अधिक शुभ है। युद्ध में प्राणों के संकट को देखते हुए इसे 'आयुर्वर्धनम्' (आयु बढ़ाने वाला) भी कहा गया है।
