स रथं सारथिर्हृष्टः परसैन्यप्रधर्षणम् ।
गन्धर्वनगराकारं समुच्छ्रितपताकिनम् ॥६-१०८-१॥
sa rathaṃ sārathirhṛṣṭaḥ parasainyapradharṣaṇam |
gandharvanagarākāraṃ samucchritapatākinam ॥6-108-1॥
Translation
The charioteer, feeling rejoiced, brought forth that chariot which was capable of overwhelming the enemy army, resembled a city of Gandharvas in size, and was adorned with lofty banners.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस सारथी ने प्रसन्न होकर शत्रु सेना का दमन करने वाले, गन्धर्व नगर के समान विशाल और ऊँची पताकाओं से सुशोभित उस रथ को तैयार किया।
English Commentary
This verse describes the grandeur and capability of Ravana's chariot. The comparison to a 'city of Gandharvas' suggests it was not just a vehicle but resembled a vast and illusory fortress. The charioteer's joy indicates that Ravana is now entering the fray with his most potent military assets. The lofty banners represent his imperial pride and the illusion of invincibility he still clings to.

यहाँ रावण के रथ की भव्यता और सामर्थ्य का वर्णन किया गया है। 'गन्धर्व नगर' की उपमा यह दर्शाती है कि वह रथ केवल एक वाहन नहीं था, बल्कि एक विशाल और मायावी दुर्ग के समान था। सारथी का हर्षित होना इस बात का संकेत है कि रावण अब अपने अंतिम और सबसे शक्तिशाली सैन्य उपकरणों के साथ युद्धभूमि में उतर रहा है। ऊँची पताकाएँ उसके राजकीय अहंकार और अजेयता के दम्भ को प्रकट करती हैं।
