रावणस्य रथं क्षिप्रं चोदयामास सारथिः ।
तमापतन्तं सहसा स्वनवन्तं महास्वनम् ॥६-१०८-४॥
rāvaṇasya rathaṃ kṣipraṃ codayāmāsa sārathiḥ |
tamāpatantaṃ sahasā svanavantaṃ mahāsvanam ॥6-108-4॥
Translation
The charioteer quickly drove Ravana's chariot forward. With a tremendous roar, it suddenly rushed toward the opponent.
हिंदी अनुवाद
सारथी ने रावण के उस रथ को शीघ्रता से आगे बढ़ाया। वह रथ महान गर्जना के साथ अचानक (श्री राम की ओर) झपट पड़ा।
English Commentary
The expertise of the charioteer and the velocity of the vehicle are central here. The word 'Sahasa' indicates a sudden assault intended to deny the enemy any time to recover. Ravana was now desperate for a direct confrontation. This cataclysmic chariot advanced toward the Vanara host like personified death, signaling the start of the final and most decisive chapter of the war.

सारथी की दक्षता और रथ का वेग यहाँ केंद्र में है। 'सहसा' शब्द उस आकस्मिक आक्रमण की ओर संकेत करता है जिसका उद्देश्य शत्रु को संभलने का समय न देना हो। रावण अब प्रत्यक्ष युद्ध के लिए व्याकुल था। यह प्रलयंकारी रथ अब साक्षात् मृत्यु के समान वानर सेना की ओर बढ़ रहा था, जो युद्ध के अंतिम और निर्णायक अध्याय का आरम्भ था।
