ततो राक्षससैन्यं च हरीणां च महद्बलम् ।
प्रगृहीतप्रहरणं निश्चेष्टं समतिष्ठत ॥६-१०९-२॥
tato rākṣasasainyaṃ ca harīṇāṃ ca mahadbalam |
pragṛhītapraharaṇaṃ niśceṣṭaṃ samatiṣṭhata ॥6-109-2॥
Translation
Then, the army of Rakshasas and the great force of monkeys stood motionless, holding their weapons (but not using them).
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब राक्षसों की सेना और वानरों की विशाल सेना, हाथों में हथियार लिए हुए भी चेष्टारहित (स्थिर) होकर खड़ी रह गई।
English Commentary
This scene illustrates the psychology of war. When two supreme powers collide, ordinary soldiers are reduced to mere spectators. Both armies became 'nishcheshta' (motionless), as if time had stood still. They forgot to fight, their gaze fixed solely on the duel between Shri Rama and Ravana. This was a state of collective paralysis or suspension.

यह दृश्य युद्ध के मनोविज्ञान को दर्शाता है। जब दो सर्वोच्च शक्तियां टकराती हैं, तो सामान्य सैनिक केवल दर्शक बन जाते हैं। दोनों सेनाएं 'निश्चेष्ट' (स्थिर) हो गईं, मानो समय थम गया हो। वे युद्ध करना भूल गए क्योंकि उनकी दृष्टि श्री राम और रावण के द्वंद्व पर टिकी थी। यह 'स्तम्भन' की स्थिति थी।
